Job Title: Mine Planner – Coal (Consultancy)
Location: Kolkata- West Bengal
Job Summary:
The company is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer with a strong background in mining operations and basic/intermediate-level experience in designing tools/software to join their team. This role involves pit and dump designs, optimization, scheduling, and report writing on a regular basis for efficient mining activities. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in coal mines, specifically within the planning dept. This role requires in-depth knowledge of coal mining methods, planning tools, and regulatory compliance, as well as the ability to work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mine Design and Planning:
- Develop and optimize short-term, medium-term, and long-term mine plans for coal extraction.
- Design pit layouts, haul roads, waste dumps, and other mining infrastructure to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Analyze geological and geotechnical data to guide mine design and resource recovery.
2. Scheduling and Optimization:
- Create production schedules that align with project goals and operational capacity.
- Use mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, MineScape, Vulcan) to model coal reserves and optimize extraction strategies.
- Ensure mine plans are feasible, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable.
3. Resource and Cost Management:
- resource estimation and ensure accurate calculations for coal tonnage, quality, and grade.
- Evaluate cost factors, including drilling, blasting, haulage, and processing, to identify areas for improvement.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure mine plans comply with national and local mining regulations, environmental guidelines, and safety standards.
- Integrate safety protocols into mine design and planning processes.
5. Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with clients, geologists, engineers, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of mine plans.
- Participate in meetings and provide technical guidance on project challenges and solutions.
6. Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and evaluate mining performance against plans, making adjustments as necessary to meet production targets. And Prepare detailed reports, including production forecasts, cost analyses, and operational summaries.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in mine planning or related roles in the coal mining industry.
