Job Summary:

The company is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer with a strong background in mining operations and a basic level of designing tools/software to join their team. This role involves pit and dump designs on a regular basis and providing guidance to the operation team to support safe and efficient mining activities. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-4 years of experience in mining, specifically within the planning dept.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mine Design and Planning:

  • Develop short-term, medium-term, and long-term mine plans and schedules.
  • Design pit layouts, haul roads, dump sites, and other mining infrastructure.
  • Ensure mine plans are aligned with production targets and operational capabilities.

2. Resource Optimization:

  • Conduct detailed geological and geotechnical analysis to maximize resource recovery.
  • Optimize drilling, blasting, and excavation plans to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate and propose alternative mining methods and technologies.

3. Software and Technical Analysis:

  • tilize mine planning software (e.g., Minex/ Deswik/Volcan/MineSight/Datamine) for designing and scheduling.
  • Generate 3D models of the mine and update based on exploration and production data.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses and scenario planning to support decision-making.

4. Collaboration and Coordination:

  • ork closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of mine plans into daily operations.
  • Coordinate with environmental and safety teams to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Provide technical support to mining operations and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

5. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare detailed reports, including production forecasts, cost analyses, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate records of mine plans, designs, and revisions.

6. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure mine plans adhere to local, national, and international mining regulations.
  • Incorporate safety protocols and environmental considerations into mine designs.

Qualifications:
• Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, or Geology
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in mine planning or related roles in the mining industry.
• Hands-on experience with open-pit coal

Skills:
o Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g. Minex, or similar).
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
